A few sentences is all we need to begin: whose names belong on the piece, the occasion, the date if it is already set, and who or what you would like photographed. We answer every inquiry ourselves, usually within a day or two, with the photograph we would make and what it would cost.

For a coat of arms rather than a piece, the heraldry inquiry asks the three questions that matter: what the work is for, whose arms they are, and how to reach you.

Engagement belongs with Wedding, and the anniversary pieces for a wedding, an ordination or a religious profession begin at ten years and every tenth year after that. For a funeral, write or call rather than waiting on this form — those are made in the days after a death.

Before you write

Lead time: Four to eight weeks for most pieces. Weddings, ordinations and baptisms are best begun three months ahead, and the weeks before Christmas fill earliest.
What we need: The names as they should appear, the date, the occasion, and the text if you have one in mind. If you do not, we will propose something and cite it.
A funeral: These are made in the days after a death, so write or call rather than waiting on the form. We will tell you honestly what can be finished in the time there is.
Pricing: Quoted per commission, because the work varies with the photograph, the text and the size. The design conversation costs nothing.

Said plainly

The photograph is ours, and not hand printed. The text on each piece is set in an elegant typeface — one of the fine faces available today that can stand beside a photograph — and it is set with the photograph itself, so the picture and the words are read together. Nothing on a piece is lettered, written or drawn by hand.

A piece prepared for a particular season — Lent, Advent, Easter — has a date it has to be ready for. Tell us the date and we will tell you honestly whether there is time.
